200 Women Demand Democratic Leaders Defend the Hopelessly “Out There” Maxine Waters

200 Black Women and a couple of men have signed a letter condemning Democratic leaders for not defending Maxine Waters’ totally deranged behavior. They specifically targeted Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and they are demanding that the issue an apology.

That should be easy to do and without using a lot of words – “I’m sorry that Maxine Waters is a deranged lunatic.” – That should do nicely. Precise and to the point, but I suspect that would prompt a second petition. The issue here is whether restaurants and grocery stores should be No-Go zones for conservatives.

Actually, I hope Miss Nancy and master Schumer listen to these women and begin agreeing with Waters on everything. That way no matter how many times the GOP screws up, they will still win the midterms. People understand that public figures need a private life and do not agree that they should be harassed just because they are hungry.

“Disparaging or failing to support Congresswoman Waters is an affront to her and Black women across the country and telegraphs a message that the Democratic Party can ill afford: that it does not respect Black women’s leadership and political power and discounts the impact of Black women and millennial voters,” the letter says.

The group called on Pelosi and Schumer to “step up and publicly support” Waters as well as apologize “for your public comments insinuating she is ‘uncivil’ and ‘unAmerican.’ ”

Responding to the letter, Pelosi said in a statement, “Congresswoman Maxine Waters is a valued leader whose passionate call for family reunification should be heard without any threats to her safety.”

“Donald Trump has sullied the bully pulpit with reckless disregard for the safety of others,” she continued. “He should stop his attacks on Congresswoman Waters and all Members of Congress, the free press, and all Americans who have the right and the responsibility to speak their minds.”
